Top 10 waiver-wire pickups for Week 7 in your fantasy football league

Injuries are mounting across the league, so don't get left behind in the race to snap up replacement players.

With Week 6 nearly in the books, we're over one-third of the way through the NFL season. However, for most fantasy managers, who operate on a compressed timeline, we're already halfway to your league's postseason, making these next few waiver cycles more important than ever.

Week 6 didn't feature quite as many serious injuries as some earlier ones, but we did see one potentially season-altering incident when Aaron Rodgers was carted off the field with a broken collarbone. Just as the Packers now have to make some serious adjustments, the unlucky owner in your league will need to find a new quarterback.

Between that and other developments, including the Ezekiel Elliott suspension saga, it should be another wild week on the waiver wire. Below, read up on 10 players you should consider adding to your roster.

Darren McFadden, RB

Team: Dallas Cowboys

Week 6 performance: N/A

One thing to know: No one knows for sure whether every-down-back Ezekiel Elliott will be allowed to play in Week 7, so fantasy managers should be scrambling to snag his backups. While Alfred Morris is the more popular option, DallasCowboys.com writer Bryan Broaddus guessed that McFadden, who has yet to carry the ball this year, will get the start if Elliott's suspension is upheld.

Orleans Darkwa, RB

Team: New York Giants

Week 6 performance: 117 rushing yards, 13 receiving yards, 1 reception

One thing to know: It's already clear that Darkwa isn't much of a receiving threat, but the Tulane product has been relentless on the ground, averaging over five yards per carry for the second consecutive week. With Odell Beckham Jr. sidelined for the rest of the season, he should continue to see plenty of action as a primary offensive weapon.

Cole Beasley, WR

Team: Dallas Cowboys

Week 5 performance: 23 receiving yards, 4 receptions, 2 touchdowns

One thing to know: It's been a disappointing season for Beasley through six weeks, but he began to turn things around in his last game, pulling in a pair of touchdown passes from Dak Prescott. Expect the run-happy Cowboys to give him more targets going forward, especially if Ezekiel Elliott ends up missing time.

Dion Lewis, RB

Team: New England Patriots

Week 6 performance: 52 rushing yards, 1 touchdown

One thing to know: Mike Gillislee's poor performance heading into Week 6 put him in danger of losing his status as the Patriots' main threat on the ground, and sure enough, he was used sparingly on Sunday. Lewis, meanwhile, topped his season high with 11 touches and appears to be New England's go-to guy at the goal line going forward.

Taylor Gabriel, WR

Team: Atlanta Falcons

Week 6 performance: 39 receiving yards, 4 receptions

One thing to know: Gabriel's production was hampered by a surprising performance from practice squad signee Marvin Hall, but with 39 yards on eight touches, it was still one of his most productive weeks of the season. With Matt Ryan under center, he'll maintain his fantasy viability for as long as Mohamed Sanu remains sidelined.

Zach Miller, TE

Team: Chicago Bears

Week 6 performance: 25 receiving yards, 2 receptions, 1 touchdown

One thing to know: Miller and new Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky have already linked up for five receptions, including a pair of touchdowns, so the important comfort factor is there. Neither of Chicago's next two opponents, Carolina and New Orleans, should pose much of a problem on defense.

Chris Ivory, RB

Team: Jacksonville Jaguars

Week 6 performance: 3 rushing yards, 74 receiving yards, 9 receptions, 1 touchdown

One thing to know: Ivory's stock experienced a surge when Leonard Fournette left Sunday's game with a sprained ankle. While the star rookie was eventually cleared to re-enter the game and is expected to play in Week 7, Ivory more than held his own as a receiver, serving as a favorite option for Blake Bortles.

C.J. Beathard, QB

Team: San Francisco 49ers

Week 6 performance: 245 passing yards, 14 rushing yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception

One thing to know: There should be better immediate quarterback options available in your league, but it still makes sense for depth-starved fantasy managers to add Beathard. If he can make a quick adjustment to the NFL and start posting decent numbers, then his stock is currently as low as it will ever be. Still, there are no guarantees, particularly with young signal callers.

Steven Hauschka, K

Team: Buffalo Bills

Week 5 performance: 3/3 field goals, 1/1 extra points

One thing to know: The Bills are coming off of their bye week and should be ready to go against Tampa Bay in Week 7. Hauschka has hit 11 out of 12 field goals this season, and more should be on the way against the Buccaneers' mediocre defense.

Cowboys, DEF

Week 5 performance: 29 points against, 4 sacks, 1 fumble recovery

One thing to know: The Cowboys have featured one of the worst defenses in all of fantasy football this season, but their matchup makes them a viable option for Week 7. C.J. Beathard of the 49ers could make a leap in time for Sunday, but there's also a chance he goes out and throws four interceptions, giving plenty of points to the Dallas D in the process.
