According to a study done by JAMA Internal Medicine in 2016, one in five people in the US has eliminated gluten from his or her diet. Only 1% of the population actually has been diagnosed with a celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder that prevents people from eating gluten.

Chick-fil-A will be one of a few fast-food restaurants to offer a gluten-free bread alternative. Shake Shack also offers a gluten-free bun.
