The 6 best fast-food chains to work for in 2018, according to employees

From In-N-Out to Starbucks to Chick-fil-A, these are the six fast-food joints with the most satisfied people, based on employee ratings on Glassdoor.

Fast food joints have a bad reputation as places to work — they pay next to nothing, offer virtually no perks or benefits, and are just soulless corporations looking to squeeze every last dime out of their workers, right?

Well, try telling that to Lynsi Snyder, the owner and president of In-N-Out, which is considered by employees to be the No. 4 best place to work in the US.

Glassdoor recently released its Best Places to Work in 2018 list, which featured In-N-Out Burger, Chick-fil-A, and Starbucks among the top 100.

But thousands of companies across many industries are considered for that list, so we asked Glassdoor for additional data on fast-food companies that were just outside the top 100.

6. Culver's

Most managers make an effort to be considerate and thoughtful, and the company chain as a whole keeps you updated as to how it is doing. My location had a friendly work environment and a serious attitude towards customer service." — Team member in Eau Claire, Wisconsin

5. Whataburger

4. Raising Cane's

Good pay and benefits, and they're closed all major holidays. Opportunities for growth. The restaurant is fun, not like other places I have worked." — Shift Manager in Houston, Texas

3. Starbucks

"The benefits are out of sight. I was offered Starbucks stock after my first year, as well as 401k through Fidelity, and a superb Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance plan. You can cover your whole family with that plan, and it can include domestic partners.

"I got a pound of free coffee every week and free coffee all day (although I think that was specific to my store, which bent the rules). There's also an Employee Assistance Hotline which you can call if you're having issues in your personal life. And HR is really responsive — they won't see you as a troublemaker if you're legitimately having an issue. They will handle it." — Former barista

2. Chick-fil-A

Great place to work, with great people, good pay, and healthy work environment that teaches you many life skills. If you're in school (high school or college) it’s an excellent place to work, that will work around your schedule and will give you a decent pay for your work." — Team member in Charlotte, North Carolina

1. In-N-Out Burger

In-N-Out Burger is a regional chain of fast-food burger restaurants with about 250 locations primarily in the American Southwest and Pacific coast.
