Here are big, beautiful photos of the iPhone 8

The new iPhone 8 is just a few weeks away from launch. Take a closer look right here.

The new iPhone 8 was announced on Tuesday.

The new iPhone comes in three colors, features a stunning glass front and back, and adds wireless charging. As usual, the new iPhone comes in both standard and Plus sizes (4.7 and 5.5-inches, respectively).

The three colors that the iPhone 8 comes in are silver, space gray, and gold.

The iPhone 8 starts at $700, while the iPhone 8 Plus starts at $800.

Both models have an upgraded "retina" HD screen, though the resolution remains the same compared to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

The 4.7-inch iPhone 8 screen can power 1334 x 750 pixels, while the 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus screen can push up to 1920 x 1080 (often referred to as 1080p HD).

When the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus launch on September 22, iOS 11 — the latest version of Apple's iPhone software —will already be out. You can take advantage of that with features like these new Siri voices.

Speaking of iOS 11, a major new addition that'll be especially good on the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus is something called "ARKit." In this example, a dinosaur is being superimposed on a basketball court that exists in real life.

Though this functionality isn't exclusive to the newest iPhone, it is best on the new iPhone — that's a measure of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus having the best camera of any previous iPhone.

Here are all the details on the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus camera:

The iPhone 8 features a 12 megapixel rear camera with what Apple calls, "a larger and faster sensor," while the iPhone 8 Plus features two 12 megapixel cameras. Due to the extra sensor, the iPhone 8 Plus is capable of doing something the standard iPhone 8 cannot: "Portrait mode with Portrait Lighting."

Here's what that looks like in practice:

The biggest functional difference with the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus is the ability to wirelessly charge the phone. Any charging pad that uses the Qi standard will work with the new iPhone.

And yes, Apple's new wireless charging mat also works with the Apple Watch. But let's get back to the iPhone 8!

Like the iPhone 7, the new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are waterproof. This photo is either an illustration of that, or these iPhones just got out of the shower.

The button layout is identical to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The left side of the phone houses the ring toggle switch and volume buttons.

You can pre-order the phones starting on September 15, and they're expected to start arriving on September 22. Or you could try going to a retail location on September 22, of course.
