Bureaucratic processes for business registration to be reduced - Minister Designate for Business

The Minister-Designate for the Ministry of Business Development, Ibrahim Mohammed Awal said the government will do this by streamlining the current framework on business registration.

The Minister-Designate for the Ministry of  Business Development, Ibrahim Mohammed Awal said this when he was vetted by the Appointments Committee of Parliament.

He said the government will do this by streamlining the current framework on business registration.

“One of the earliest things we will do is to look at the regulatory framework. The regulatory framework in the sense that, anything that affects business registration must be streamlined.”

He said this measure will also increase investments in the country.

He said his ministry will do all within its power to ensure the new regime he envisages is brought to reality.

“Whether getting a bill of certificate to construct, registering your business or access to funding, The first major[work] we have, is to improve the regulatory framework  to enable small businesses to grow, so we look at a collaboration with other sectors of the economy.”

The Nana Addo-led government has given a number of indications that they will drive a pro-business agenda with collaboration from the private sector.

The Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Wednesday (January 18, 2017) paid a surprise visit to the Registrar-General’s Department to get a firsthand report on the challenges facing the State outfit.

Dr Bawumia also promised that he will ensure that the bureaucratic nature of registering businesses in Ghana is a thing of the past.
