The Acting Executive Director of NSS Ussif Mustapha made this disclosure at an official deployment ceremony in Accra.

"In accordance with the scheme's commitment to meeting President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's vision, we have deployed 2,160 service personnel to the agricultural sector for the government's "Planting for Food and Jobs" policy."

This comes at a time when Ghana’s Agric sector needs more youthful expertise to realise more gains in that sector.

The ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’ project is the flagship agricultural programme of the Nana Addo-led government.

It will be rolled out in all the 216 districts in Ghana.

Five main crops which would be cultivated under the project include soya beans, rice, maize, sorghum and vegetables based on five key pillars including the provision of certified fertiliser, seeds, marketing and e-Agriculture, extension service.

The project is expected to create over 750,000 jobs.

NSS has posted over 91,000 fresh graduates to various state and private institutions, the acting NSS boss has said.

Mustapha said 76,908 personnel have been posted to the public sector while 14,963 people have been deployed to the private sector.

Mr Mustapha warned that service postings will not be changed but said personnel with genuine reasons will be attended to.
