‘Chalk’ headmistress won’t be transferred - GES

Reports of attempts to transfer Mrs. Juliet Angelina Oppong was triggered by her chalk and logbook request to the second lady, Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has brushed off media reports of plans within the service to transfer the headmistress of the Presby primary school in Kukurantumi following her chalk request which sparked controversy in the country.

Reports of attempts to transfer Mrs. Juliet Angelina Oppong was triggered by her chalk and logbook request to the second lady, Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur which resulted in the latter’s blatant denial and subsequent ‘infamous’ remarks.

A statement signed by the acting director general, Jacob Kor on Wednesday, said no directive has been issued to the Eastern regional directorate of education to transfer Mrs. Angelina Oppong as has been reported by the Daily Guide newspaper.Below are details of the statement from the GESThe attention of the Management of Ghana Education Service (GES) has been drawn to a publication in the media specifically, Wednesday, 22nd July, 2015, edition of Daily Guide, issue number 167/15, page 6 on the above heading.We wish to state categorically that GES has not issued any directive to the Regional Directorate of Education to transfer of the said Headmistress.The Municipal Director of Education has not issued any letter to the Headmistress to that effect.Any other information concerning Mrs. Juliet Angelina Oppong’s transfer which is contrary to what we have put out should be considered false.The Ministry of Education and GES wish to state our discomfort with some media house’s reportage on this issue which is putting us into disrepute, and issues concerning GES and the Ministry of Education should be cross checked before publications are made.Find below the telephone numbers of the District Director and the Headmistress, Juliet Oppong.
