Main gate reopened after five years of closure

The main gate was closed to make way for renovation.

There is a reconstructed water fountain, a monument for the school as well as an automatic electronic boom barrier at the gate.

According to Prof Ernest Aryeetey, Vice Chancellor of the institution, access through the gate is now limited to only private vehicles with the required University of Ghana electronic access card and vehicles offering emergency services.

“No commercial vehicle, taxi or trotro or trucks, will be allowed through this gate… It is opened to private vehicles of staff and those with the required access card,” he said at a short sod cutting ceremony on Monday.

Prof Aryeetey lauded contractors for working hard to ensure its competition.
