Yvonne Nelson hits at Mahama; #DumsorMustStop

Yvonne Nelson is unamused about the continuing power rationing.

Actress and movie producer, Yvonne Nelson, has criticised President John Mahama over the power crisis (dumsor) facing the country.

The actress in a series of tweets Wednesday, said the power crisis had adversely affected businesses and the school children, who rely on electricity to read at night.

“Ghanaians wake up! We seriously don’t deserve this,” the actress stated.

In an interview on BBC Friday, she said "You know sometimes when I'm coming home, I'm scared, I'm scared of going home because the light is going to be off so  its pretty alarming...the whole dumsor situation is affecting everything, its affecting productivity in Ghana and something has to be done."

When asked about her recent tweet, she said "you know there are so many guys on twitter and most of these guys are in schools, they cant even learn because of dumsor, people are writing exams, they cant learn as well. Businesses are closing down, companies are laying off workers.

She noted: "We can't function as a nation and we need electricity to function".

Yvonne’s comments came days after her friend and fellow actor, John Dumelo, called on Ghanaians to be patient with President John Mahama because Rome was not built on a day.

She added that, "I agree with him (John Dumelo) but we all need patience but then the government promised us they were actually sending some power barges to help the situation at the end of last month and today is May 1 so its pretty much of full of lies. They keep telling us lies and we are not seeing any result."

She said "as a leader he needs to deliver, we needs result and he has to fix this whole situation and this has to be fixed.

They are just lying to us. They are just taking Ghanaians for granted," she noted.
