Actress' husband reportedly remanded in jail

According to reports, Lanre Gentry is reportedly cooling his heels at the Ikoyi Prisons after failing to meet his bail conditions.

The Hotelier was reportedly arraigned before a Magistrates court sitting in Ogba, on a three-count charge offence bordering on breach of public peace, assault and causing grievous bodily harm to his wife.

The court heard that the Mr. Gentry constantly beat up the Nollywood actress and in the last assault, hit her on the nose, which caused her to bleed profusely.

Police prosecutor, Inspector N. Peter said the offence was contrary to and punishable under sections 157 (f), 168 (a) and 171 of the Criminal Law No II, Vol. 44 Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.

LIB reports that Gentry pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge offence.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs. O. Aje-Afunwa reportedly granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

According to the reports, both sureties must show proof of tax payment and own a verifiable house in Lagos with title documents.

Gentry was reportedly remanded in Ikoyi Prisons for failing to perfect the bail conditions before the close of the day and would remain in prison custody until he perfects his bail.

As earlier reported, the couple's marriage of seven years came to a tragic end after the actress revealed that she was beaten by her husband and had been enduring domestic violence in her marriage.

However, Gentry who accused the actress of infidelity denied the allegations.
