"Akoo Nana Is Not Stupid" - Jay Blakk

A leading member of Akoo Nana's interim management team for the tiGO Music Unplugged concert has cried put that, the artiste is not stupid to just bring nude ladies on stage for nothing.

Over the weekend, Akoo Nana, one of the artistes billed to perform at the tiGO Music Unplugged concert came under hot fire from various factions over the standard of his performance. The free concert attracted hundreds of music lovers who thronged the Accra Sports stadium to witness performances from music merchants such as Sarkodie, 4×4, Guru, MzVee, Shatta Wale and Nigerian hot cake, Davido. DJ Black set things going with assorted tunes which were warmly received by the eager fans just as YFM’s Nokus did well as the MC on the night.

Akoo Nana however, set a twist to the night for which he is currently under hot fire from various pundits. He is not been ridiculed for his actual performance or engagement with the crowd, he was rather being fired at for the dancers he had brought along to perform with him on stage.

He brought along three dancers who went about gyrating their waists as he mimed to his song whilst their perky breasts bounced in the bare view to the over  hundreds of people present at the Accra Sports stadium. In a discussion with Pulse.com.gh, Akoo Nana, claimed the nude dancers were to help him send a message across on breast cancer awareness. According to him, the campaign was something he has “done in other countries”. He claimed the performance was accepted elsewhere but, “our people have different ways to picture thing”.

News spreading on Ghanaian websites claimed that the dancers were sacked off stage by the event organizers, but he said the dancers were not called off stage. He and a member of his management team explained that he was supposed to give a little speech about breast cancer after performing one song with the ladies, but was unable to.

Jay Blakk, a member of his management team, however claimed that some organizers came to tell him that the “tiGO boss was not very happy with the performance”. However, he claimed to have seen the said boss, standing upfront, dancing and taking pictures of the proceedings on stage.

He also added that the musicians were not from Ghana but were from South Africa and Congo. He also added that he didn’t understand the brouhaha over the issue as “Akoo Nana is not stupid to just bring nude girls on stage for nothing”.
