Ghanaian playwright recalls his youth as he celebrates 63 Birthday

Playwright Uncle Ebo Whyte reminisced about his youth going back 50 years to when he 13 years old and narrated his rise to the man he has become.

After six decades on planet earth, the influence and rapport that celebrated playwright Uncle Ebo has managed to garner for himself is beyond fathomable comprehension.

A man solely driven by the love and respect for the artistic creations has influenced the minds of many unsuspecting youths across the country and beyond with his comedic, satirical plays highlighting personable qualities that should be emulated by all.

Uncle Ebo Whyte celebrated his 63 birthday today and he graced the staff of Multimedia Group Limited, JoyFm Super Morning Show to celebrate this memorable occasion.

As customary of any annual celebration the staff joined the respected playwright cut his wonderfully decorated birthday cake.

The playwright is not new to the entertainment scene as he looks as fit as a fiddle, sharply dressed in his wine suit beaming with uncontrollable smiles at the warm welcome he received.

He reminisced on Accra-based Joy FM about his youth going back 50 years to when he 13 years old and narrated his rise to the man he has become.

Ebo Whyte observed he was a late bloomer and other teens his age had bloomed physically and socially whilst he was still yet to gain his “sea legs” maintained his timid recluse character until he grew.

He believed that his stunted growth was as a result of divine providence making him realize the inanimate things all around him. The inanimate object for Uncle Ebo Whyte was books which acted as his great escape. Through books he managed to carry the world until the world found it fit to carry him as a household name.

Today, Uncle Ebo Whyte is Ghanaian entertainments saving grace. He has revived Ghanaians love for theatre in an age where social media and technology has made the youth less inclined towards the gifts of the theater.

Through his plays organized by Roverman Productions, the playwright is showing us a life worth emulating disguised in heavy laughter and noteworthy moments.

He said as 13 year old he never knew the full picture of what he wanted to be until his call to be a playwright.
