Candidates express optimism about exams

A total of 461, 013 candidates from 14,267 public and private junior high schools are expected to write the examination which will last till Friday, June 17, 2016.

Candidates writing this years Basic Education Certificate Examination have turned up at their various centres to sit for the exam.

From Legon in Accra, Pulse.com.gh reporter, Alice Adu reports that the examination started smoothly at 8.30 am at the centres she visited.

At the Legon centre, 217 students from the University of Ghana Basic school had turned up for the exams, except for one who has travelled.

According to the supervisor for the centre, Daniel Agyei, they have not reported any incident associated with cheating so far. He explained that the students, as well as security have been very cooperative.

As at the time of filing this report, the students had completed their first paper, which is English and were waiting to write their second paper, Religious and Moral Education later in the afternoon.

Some of the students expressed optimism about the papers written so far.

“It was very funny. I studied very well and so I was prepared,” John, a candidate said.

“It was okay...especially the literature,” another student added.
