GHANASS closes down

The situation has compelled authorities to close down the school temporarily to enable them come out with a medium term measure to house the students affected.

Fire gutted the Dormitory of the school in the Eastern regional capital of Koforidua amidst heavy downpour.

First and second year students of the school have been asked to go home leaving the final year students of the school are however to remain in school to prepare for their West African Secondary School Certificate Examination.
Authorities after an emergency meeting said they are to report on April 18.

MP for Juabeng North, Nana Adu Boahen who visited the school on Friday to assess the extent of damage has told Accra-based Joy FM that measures are being put in place to deal with the problem.

"We are looking at how we can resolve this problem immediately and then look at the medium to long term. Immediately, we have to find some arrangement to house the girls, about 200 of them who have been affected", the MP said after a meeting with authorities of the school
The cause of the fire is not yet known. Investigations have however commenced into the cause of the fire.
