The Association of African Universities (AAU) will be marking its Golden jubilee celebration
AAU is marking its jubilee celebration under the theme "AAU@50: Achievements, challenges and prospects for sustainable development in Africa".
With the world increasingly moving toward a knowledge economy, higher education helps economies keep up and catch up with more technologically advanced societies.
Higher education enables graduates to effectively use new technologies and develop new tools and skills as well as promote job creation and entrepreneurship.
The AAU at a press briefing said it recognizes her critical role in developing and promoting knowledge societies fueled by skilled human capital.
According to the Secretary General of the Association, Prof. Etienne Ehile, AAU is the apex organisation and forum for consultation, exchange of information and co-operation among institutions of higher education in Africa.
