UHAS appoints new pro-vice chancellor

Professor Theophilus Christian Fleischer, New Pro Vice Chancellor,UHAS

The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) has appointed Professor Theophilus Christian Fleischer as the new Pro-Vice Chancellor.

Prof Fleischer joins UHAS  with more than three decades of teaching, research and university administrative experiences.

Prior to this appointment, Prof. Fleischer was an Associate Professor of Pharmacosnosy at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

He is also a member of International Pharmaceutical Federation and Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (MPSGH) among others. Further, he is a fellow of the West Africa Postgraduate College of Pharmacists (FGCPharm), and a foundation fellow of Ghana College of Pharmacists (FGCPharm).

Professor Fleisher obtained his B.Pharm. (Hons) and M.Pharm from the University of Science and Technology, Kumasi in 1984 and 1990 respectfully, and his Ph.D from the University of Stracthclyde, Glasgow in 1997.

His research and teaching interests include Medicinal Plant research and Herbal Medicine Practice. He has supervised thirteen (13) post graduate projects and over 150 final year undergraduate projects in various aspects of medicinal and traditional medicine research.

Prof. is a member of International Pharmaceutical Federation and Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (MPSGH) among others. He is also a fellow of the West Africa Postgraduate College of Pharmacists (FGCPharm), and a foundation fellow of Ghana College of Pharmacists (FGCPharm)

Prof. replaces the founding Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Edwin Kwame Wiredu whose contract ends on 31st December, 2015.

UHAS is A pre-eminent research and practically oriented health educational institution dedicated to community service with the mission to provide quality educational opportunities to students and healthcare professionals, advance knowledge through scholarship and research and provide patient care and services that improve health and quality of life.

The University of Health and Allied Sciences was established by an Act of Parliament (ACT 828 of December 2011) as a public university in Ghana. The main campus including the central administration is in Ho. A second campus is to be located in Hohoe.
