UPSA dismisses 22 students over grade manipulation

The University said the decision was arrived at during an emergency meeting by its academic board Wednesday February 15 2017.

The University of Professional Studies (UPS) has dismissed 22 students for undermining the university’s student information system in order to “manipulate various grades in their favour.”

“The Academic Board took a serious view of this conduct considering the potential it has to damage the credibility of the University and therefore further resolved that seven of the dismissed students who refused to cooperate with the investigation process should have their photographs published alongside their names to serve as a deterrence,” the dismissal notice stated.

The Academic Board at its emergency meeting on Wednesday, 15 February, 2017 took a decision to dismiss the twenty-two (22) under-listed students from the University with immediate effect.

The dismissed students were found culpable of involvement in various acts to undermine the University’s student information system in order to manipulate various grades in their favour.

The Academic Board took a serious view of this conduct considering the potential it has to damage the credibility of the University and therefore further resolved that seven of the dismissed students who refused to cooperate with the investigation process should have their photographs published alongside their names to serve as a deterrence.

All the twenty-two (22) are hereby requested to submit any property of the University including student’s ID card in their possession to the Registrar without any delay.

The decision of the University is without prejudice to any criminal investigation and prosecution being pursued by the law enforcement authorities.
