Start the New Year with an Executive MBA from Lancaster

Happy New Year! Each passing year sees successfully finished projects, new collaborations and pleasant moments.

2015 was an exceptional year for us at Lancaster University Ghana.

In looking back upon the year 2015, the keen earnestness and devoted diligence of the LUG community are abundantly evident in the numerous attainments achieved one after the other, especially with regard to international rankings and accreditation. These achievements serve as recognition of the LUG community’s myriad triumphs, based on concerted effort, which have raised us to a standing that is on par with world-renowned institutions of higher learning.

Mobile technology is changing the world more quickly and profoundly than any other innovation; it gives new meaning to communication, expands the boundaries of globalization and transforms connectivity.  Businesses and consumers should look to emerging markets for insights and inspiration into the opportunities that technology can offer, to cater for future needs and provide cutting edge solutions. She challenged the audience to be part of this revolution.

Our law faculty hosted two events; the Law Society Week Celebration - which sought to build an affinity between the LUG's Law programme and that of its parent campus Lancaster University UK and other universities within Ghana, and the Inaugural LUG Law Colloquium - themed Law for Development.

Globally, the Lancaster University brand gained higher ranking and recognition from various bodies including placing 11th in the UK in FT Master in Finance rankings; fourth in the UK for graduate employability; 10th for student satisfaction; ranking top ten in the Guardian University league tables 2016.

History was made on May 22, 2015, when Lancaster University Ghana’s student body elected their first ever Student Representative Council (SRC). The eight executives were elected to serve on the SRC for the 2015/16 academic year.

Our biggest accomplishment of 2015 would have to be the successful inauguration of a new complex campus located at East Legon to complement its already existing campus.

The new campus is a state of the art learning environment that is designed to encourage faculty and student interaction. The new facilities also include a dedicated EMBA suite for the Lancaster University Executive MBA programme, a purpose built lecture theatre, tutorial and seminar rooms, along with additional offices for the University’s growing academic staff.

The Lancaster Executive MBA programme is designed to build your functional knowledge and your leadership capability through a combination of taught modules in key management areas interspersed with experiential projects, or challenges, where you apply that knowledge to specific business issues. These are complemented by action oriented coursework assignments in your organisation.

Embarking on a part-time MBA, is never easy. You expect and want it to be challenging and to test your abilities in all directions. This is certainly true at Lancaster; unsurprising though, from a management school that has achieved top rankings in the UK for teaching and research for more than a decade. Those qualities are reflected in the staff you will meet on the programme – and in the real currency and rigour of the ideas you will be introduced to.

What makes the Lancaster EMBA truly distinctive, however, are its concept of learning through action, which shapes the entire programme design, and its focus on both personal and organisational development.

I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as Deputy Provost of this great university and to work together with its faculty, staff, and students as we pursue the shared goal of ensuring that Lancaster University Ghana continues to make significant contribution to the shaping of the African educational landscape and the development leaders that are relevant to the African context.

We look forward to welcoming new students for the 2016/2017 academic year that will add to the growing number of alumni across the globe.  Prof. Cynthia Forson, Deputy Provost.

But why take our word for it, here’s what one of the previous student of our Executive MBA programme has to say.

The Lancaster EMBA Programme has provided me with the perfect balance between work, education and family. I have access to UK education locally, combined with colleagues and their experiences from different industries and cultures together with a 2 year overview of my timetable. Education has never been so carefully planned and painless like my time with Lancaster. - Eric Tetteh - Account Manager (Sales), Ericsson AB Ghana

My experience as an EMBA student at Lancaster University turned out to be the crucial to my professional and personal development.

The Professors are industrially aware.  Networking with other senior executives and CEO’s as course mates is deepening my intellectual abilities.  To me Lancaster EMBA is an academic Suite and living the opportunity is fulfilling .
