They have been rusticated for their involvement in Friday’s (March 17, 2017) clashes at the school.

In a statement signed by the director of academic affairs of the University Jeff Teye Nyame, it stated that the two are Minta Augustine Awotwe of the School of Business reading Business Management Studies and Prince Agyemang Kwabena who is also reading Bachelor of Commerce at the School of Business.

It added that the two business students must stay clear off the campus until the beginning of the 2017/2018 academic year.

An eyewitness account says some residents of Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana and Unity Hall of KNUST who had been invited for a programme at Ogua Hall at UCC ended up attacking one another after a misunderstanding.

The true cause of the violence is yet to be established, but the incident became intense after some residents of ATL Hall also joined the skirmishes.

Several properties belonging to Ogua Hall are reportedly destroyed. The Hall Bus and Vehicles belonging to some lecturers were also vandalised.
