Ghana's list of lost stars

Ghana has lost some stars and personalities in the year 2016. Here are some celebrity deaths in 2016.

From the likes of Bob Santo, Suzzy Williams, Margaret "Araba Stamp" Quainoo, Terry Bonchacha, Owusu Ansah, Michael Dwamena, Dr. Paa Bobo to Bob Okala, the entertainment industry has witnessed untimely deaths and mourned many.

2016, started on a bad note because we lost some of the industry’s greatest men. The deaths took everyone by surprise.

On this note, we bring you top Ghanaian celebrities who didn’t make it to the end on 2016.

After battling kidney disease for months, former Actors Guild president and actor Nii Odoi Mensah died on April 12 in China where he was undergoing a kidney transplant. He did not make it despite the financial support he receive from CEO of EIB Network and government.

He was laid to rest on June 20 at the Trade Fair Center La, Accra on June 20.

The Minister of Tourism Creative Arts, Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, MUSIGA and colleagues from the Arts and Creative Industry Idikoko, Papa Nii, Kofi Adjorlolo and others paid their last respect to the legendary Nii Odoi Mensah.

Ace comedian Samuel Kwadwo Buabeng who is popularly known as Bishop Bob Okala died in March at the Eastern Regional Hospital.

The one-time best “Key Soap Concert Party” comedian was performing at an event on Saturday (12th March 2016) organised by Joy Industries when he collapsed.

His funeral took place at the Arts Centre. His funeral was attended by President Mahama, who was a friend to the late actor. Other key figures including Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Creative Arts were present to mourn the late actor.

Comedian Yaw Donkor popularly known as Nkomode passed away on February 5, 2016 after battling with kidney, liver and bladder failure due to excessive drinking.

In 2015, Nkomode was reportedly bedridden due to kidney, liver and bladder failure. Nkomode was laid to rest on Saturday, April 30 in his hometown, Wasa Akropong in the Western Region. His funeral was attended by  Akorobeto, Agya Koo and other movie stars.

Popular Efiewura TV series actor, Lucky Azasoo-Nkornoo aka Mc Flava Pounds died Wednesday, May 4, 2016.

He was reported ill a few weeks before his shocking passing. Even some 14 hours to his death, he took to Facebook to thank his fans for their support and prayer.

"Thanks to every single soul who prayed for me or wished me well, may you all have a blessed day, hope to get better in God name amen," Flava wrote.

He also posted a heart touching message to his mother. He wrote "Mama don't cry God willing, we will be fine if not you I don’t know what would have happen i just pray God keep you alive!!if not you am nothing hmm".

The remains of the actor was conveyed from Accra to Koforidua on Friday, June 10 for the final funeral rite and burial.

Mc Flava Pounds starred in the popular Efiewura TV series and he also made a cameo appearance in Atom’s "Yewo krom" video.

In the Efiewura series he played the role of husband to  actress Adwoa Smart.

He died at the age of 27.

Goerge Williams

The veteran actor died on Sunday, July 30 at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. The 87-year-old actor is said to have complained of some undisclosed ailment and was rushed to the hospital Sunday where he died.

Omanhene Pozo

The multiple hitmaker died on Wednesday, September 21. Omanhene Pozo had been in and out of hospital between November 2015 and February 2016. Doctors admitted him after his condition deteriorated. He was said to be suffering from brain tumour.

Vybrant Faya

The "Mampi" hitmaker died Sunday, October 23 at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra after he was involved in an accident on the Tema Motorway.

A statement released and signed by Kelly Nii Lartey Mensah, a member of Shatta Movement Family (SMF) Communication said the management team had met with Vybrant on Sunday afternoon, but soon after received news he was in hospital.

Katawere

Katawere died on Monday, November 14, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Known for his magnificent interpretations of roles in movies, Katawere has featured in so many movies and series with seasoned stars like Agya Koo, Akrobeto, Auntie Bee of Efie Wura fame and many others.
