Gospel musicians we don’t trust

The basic assumption is that gospel music artistes are goody two shoes who are next to God. Infact most of them are either lay ministers or fully ordained preachers . They are however just like secular acts, never far from controversy.

Its performers have found success with  a mix of local hymns and a recent growth in worship melodies and a hip- hop crossover that also appeals to a younger audience.

The basic assumption is that gospel music artistes are goody two shoes who are next to God. Infact most of them are either lay ministers or fully ordained preachers . They are however just like secular acts, never far from controversy. Trust is a great tool in being a successful gospel act and we just don’t fully trust these ones.

1. Sonnie Badu

Ghana’s most successful gospel export has it all going for him. A great career filled with tours, record selling albums and a fantastic wife .There are however the unending whispers and reports of scandal that never seem to go away and drop the trust marker on this talent.

2. Gifty Osei

Many have questioned if the self styled “Empress One” is a true minister of God. From her outlandish dress style to her regular social media updates, Gifty Osei is the quintessential anti- gospel act. Who can forget her viral video in which she struggled to speak twi; a dialect she normally sings in alone gave people enough reason not to trust. An anonymous person said, “As for Gifty Osei she just exudes distrust.”

3. Brother Sammy

The popular Kumasi-based musician has been the the subject of several allegations of misconduct,most recently by a UK based gospel musician named Ohemaa Jackie. His fondness for raining curses does not help his cause either.

4. Kwaku Gyasi

Touted to become the biggest gospel act in the country after his breakthrough, the dynamic praise leader has vanished into obscurity after a series of allegations curtailed his rise to the top of the gospel music food chain.

5. Grace Ashy

Grace Ashy started as a gospel musician, subsequently, became a “jama” leader for the national football team and started a fan club as well. Who can forget when news broke that she had been suspended from the Methodist University for allegedly misconducting herself during an exam. Lost points on the trust meter after that.
