“I’m not righteous than secular artistes” – Nicholas Omane Acheampong

The gospel musican has sought to clarify what he believes is a wrong conclusion drawn by the public from an earlier comment he made

Nicholas Omane Achemapong is one of Ghana's long lasting gospel musicians.

Gospel artiste, Nicholas Omane Acheampong has sought to clarify what he believes is a wrong conclusion drawn by the public from an earlier comment he made that gospel musicians should not associate themselves with secular musicians.

Public discourse in the wake of the comment portrayed the gospel singer as feeling more pious than secular musicians.

But Nicholas Omane Acheampong has debunked such assertions, saying, the fact that one sings gospel does not mean he is more righteous than a secular artiste.

The artiste noted for his unique ways of titling his albums, on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, with Abrantepa stated that while he may not be in a position to judge secular musicians, he believes the lyrics in secular songs are not in line with the principles of gospel music.

He observed that albeit some of the secular musicians even incorporate the gospel in their works, such songs are not targeted at propagating the gospel, which is why he may not feature any secular artist.

“I’m not condemning secular music; neither I’m I saying we are more righteous than secular musicians, but I will only collaborate with them if they are ready to sing about Jesus. If the focus is money, then I won’t” he said.
