Some celebrities are unamused about the continuing power rationing. They took to social media and shared their feelings.
It appears Ghanaians can no longer take the shameful ‘Dumsor’ going on in the country for the past three years.
It is becoming so unbearable with time to the extent that even celebrities who can easily afford generators or any alternative source of power cannot tolerate it anymore.
Several Ghanaian celebrities including; Sarkodie, Afia Schwarzenegger, Yvonne Nelson, Wanlov Kubolor among others have complained about the unpardonable ‘dumsor’ situation in Ghana now actress Lydia Forson has joined the wagon.
Here are excerpts of what each celebrity wrote to President John Mahama.
The actress in a series of tweets Wednesday, said the power crisis had adversely affected businesses and the school children, who rely on electricity to read at night.
“Ghanaians wake up! We seriously don’t deserve this,” the actress stated.
In an interview on BBC Friday, she said "You know sometimes when I'm coming home, I'm scared, I'm scared of going home because the light is going to be off so its pretty alarming...the whole dumsor situation is affecting everything, its affecting productivity in Ghana and something has to be done."
When asked about her recent tweet, she said "you know there are so many guys on twitter and most of these guys are in schools, they cant even learn because of dumsor, people are writing exams, they cant learn as well. Businesses are closing down, companies are laying off workers.
She noted: "We can't function as a nation and we need electricity to function".
I’ve been meaning to writing this for a while, but every time I start I’m just reminded of all the drama my friends face on my behalf every time I “speak” my mind. I’ve told them to stop fighting my battles, but well they won’t listen.
Personally I’m past caring about what people think of the things I have to say, it’s not for their benefit that I write; its for the many people who don’t have a voice or a platform like mine to express themselves.
But last night I had an encounter with a man who all but told me that I need to shut up about issues that aren’t about me or don’t concern me.
Now being the lady that I ” pretend” to be I basically tried to keep my cool and let him know, my parents didn’t raise me to be a fool. They raised me to ask questions, think and have an opinion.
So in honour of the fool who’s STUPIDTY can’t be cured I’m about to go in on something I’ve tried to stay out of, you know, just to piss him off a little. Ha, Ilike that, piss him of!
See I’ve kept mute of this #dumsor issue going on between my friends on social media because the last time I wrote to President Mahama he ignored me.
Chaii dude didn’t even call me !!?????
How much rejection can one take Huh?
One person refuses to marry me and other won’t call me?
Well I’m too much woman for them anyway.
Sorry I digress.
One time BET award winner, Sarkodie descended heavily on President John Mahama over their inability to solve the current erratic power supply facing the country.
The series of tweets Pulse.com.gh gathered say (Unscripted):
"Watch and listen to them carefully and see if they care about Us.
"It's a miracle how we survive down here you know.
"Guess dumsor will pause when election is closer right?? Smh and ma people will fall for it!!! After all it's caused ....
"What voting means down here : choosing who's best to maltreat me ... Simple.
"We been treated like Kids Down here ma people and it's sad ... They succeeded in programming our minds not to focus on important issues.
"All these fake political talk shows with people battling on who speaks better English and not sharing ideas on way forward.
"See how we scream when our lights back on like they doing us a favor smh .. And we think we have rights???.
"Maybe am not normal or its ma disorder but I hate hurting people ... That seem to be normal to them... Not to me ..
"Loads of politicians are scared for their lives but know the truth on what's happening but at least they benefit directly we don't.
"You guys can afford guards we can't .. U can afford vacations we cant... All we have in this messed up economy is electricity...That one too.
"You can't even be innovative in this country ...
"I'm realistic I ain't looking for change overnight but then wanna see the effort towards it ... Not bothered with your updates on visits.
"When your boss is broke that doesn't affect your pay ... So it's up to him to keep things right while you do your part ...Same Mr. President."
