Sarkodie congratulates Yvonne Nelson for a successful ‘dumsor vigil’

The BET award winner, who was one of the main organisers of the event explained that he could not be physically present because “a rather tight working schedule in the United States made it impossible for me to”

Ghanaian Rapper, Sarkodie has applauded his fellow celebrities for holding a successful protest against government’s handling of the power crisis in the country.

The crippling energy crisis has lingered on over the past three years and has led to companies laying off workers because of high cost of production as they are compelled to use generators.

The BET award winner, who was one of the main organisers of the event explained that he could not be physically present because “a rather tight working schedule in the United States made it impossible for me to”. Earlier, confirmed reports suggested that Sarkodie will be absent as he was wrapping up a video shoot for a new song with American hip hop artiste, Ace Hood.

A statement from Sark commended Yvonne Nelson and everyone who took part in the May 16 #dumsormuststop vigil for a good work done.

Below are details of the statement released by Sarkodie:

Yesterday a bold statement was made. #dumsormuststop went from being just a social media awareness creation campaign to something we are all now proud of.

History has been created, your way, our way.

To Yvonne Nelson, my other colleagues who joined, and the rest of the team that put this together, I want to say a big congratulations.

A rather tight working schedule in the United States made it impossible for me to be physically present at the gathering.
