Lydia Forson accuses feminists of selective 'activism'
In a write up Thursday, the Ghanaian actress responded to Hon. Ken Agyapong scathing attacks on the person of the chairperson of the Electoral Commission, saying Ghanaians must accept blame for creating "the monster that he pretends he is."

"You created him, you urged him on, you cheered him each time he went lower than the last, you revered him, you feared him and in the end, you helped create the monster that he pretends he is," Lydia Forson wrote.
Forson took aim at women activists for not defending other women like Afia Schwarzenegger who also suffered harsh verbal abuse from Agyapong, guessing sarcastically that the Assin Central MP's attack was against someone the gender activists "Like, respect or deem worthy."

"Didn’t he say worse about Afia Schwarzenegger ?Didn’t he all but call her a harlot? Didn’t he say she had HIV? Didn’t he sit on radio and TV to make these statements? Weren’t women in the building and around him?
"So what’s new here?
"Or wait, let me guess he did it against someone we 'like, respect or deem worthy”'or someone that interest or benefits us in a way."
She quizzed the sudden show of support to the EC boss and again launched a sarcastic line:
"Let me guess, you were too busy getting manicures and sipping on tea with bites of shortbread deciding on what colour to paint their nails."

She continued: "Afia and the many others weren’t worth your energy, after all, she brought it upon herself, as many of you wrote on your wall. Some went as far as saying, she’d attacked the Ministry of Gender in the past and so didn’t deserve attention."
The MP for Assin Central has come under intense criticism for accusing the EC boss, Charlotte Osei, of trading sex for her position.
The comments did not go down well with some sections of the public, including many civil society organisations and women groups.
The Minister of Gender Children and Social Protection subsequently requested an apology from Agyepong on behalf of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.
The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has also condemned Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Agyapong, for comments the Association says are “distasteful, offensive, abusive and derogatory not only to Mrs Osei but to women in general.”

Meanwhile, the NPP is yet to make an official statement on the matter.
