Sharing what informed his decision on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, Brunch2Lunch, Evangelist Ofori said life has not been easy for him since he decided to quit secular music.

According to him, he has gone through unbearable hardship which has gone to the extent of affecting his service to God.

Antwi Korkor, as he was known during his days with Antwi ne Antwi, recounted that he has applied to be considered employment in some institutions but has been turned down on all occasions after employers realised he was ‘too big’ for the job.

The situation has compelled him to return to secular music because he is convinced that is the only thing he can do and the best way to make a living and serve his Creator.

“For the past ten years that I decided to do gospel, I have come to the realisation that it won’t help. It’s difficult for people to accept me; even Christians. I am not quitting church but I must get something doing to feed myself and my family. That is the challenge. And the only thing I can do is music. Look, I have applied for many jobs but when they realise I’m the one, they don’t want to employ me because they feel they cannot be sending me around,” he noted.

“I have children, I pay bills but since 2006, I have been unemployed. Just imagine. I have taken a whole lot of things into consideration and I think the best thing to do to enjoy Christianity is to go back and do my secular music and worship God well. I can’t worship God the way I should because of poverty. Sometimes, I have to lie to people before I can get money to feed my family. Is that the best way to worship God? At first, I could contribute to the development of the church but the last time we were raising funds, I couldn’t even give GHC 1,” he said.

The singer stated that he recorded gospel songs but were unable to hit.

When host, Abrantepa asked if he will rescind his decision to come back to secular music should someone decide to help him in diverse ways, Evangelist Ofori replied, “many promised to help but left midway because they were discouraged. So how can I know that whoever is coming will stay?”

Antwi Korkor indicated that he has informed his brother Antwi Tuntum who is currently outside the country and has asked him to start recording so he [Tuntum] will join later because he is caught up with something.
