VGMAs made me know EL – Abeiku Sagoe

According to Mr Sagoe, he knew of Bisa Kdei and his songs but got to know EL after he had won Artiste of the Year

Veteran actor, Abeiku Sagoe

According to Mr Sagoe, he knew of Bisa Kdei and his songs but got to know EL after he had won the category.

“Before God and man, I hadn’t heard of EL but [knew Bisa Kdei], his ‘Mansa’ and ‘Brother Brother’ songs. I listened to EL’s songs [after the event] because I got curious asking where he came from to win,” the actor said on Hitz FM’s The Profiler.

EL, real name, Elorm Adablah, was crowned Artiste of the Year at the 17 edition of the biggest event on Ghana’s music calendar. He beat competition from Stonebwoy, Bisa Kdei, Sarkodie, VVIP and SP Kofi Sarpong.

Other categories won by EL were Afro-pop Song of the Year, Music Producer of the Year, Hiplife/Hip-pop Artiste of the Year and Best Music Video of the Year.

Bisa Kdei won four awards on the night: Highlife Song of the Year, Highlife Artiste of the Year, Most Popular Song if the Year and Album of the Year.

A section of the public intimated that EL’s audience appeal was not huge enough to merit him Artiste of the Year while others opined that he deserved it because he worked creditably well the year under review.
