Rapper hosts first boxing match as a boxing promoter

Celebrities were on hand to witness as Jay Z hosted his first match as a boxing promoter on Friday night in New York.

American rapper Jay Z is official now a boxing promoter.

The rapper yesterday, Friday, January 9 hosted his first match as a boxing promoter at the Madison Square Garden in New York.

The rapper was also joined by a slew of his celebrity friends like Rihanna, actor Jake Gyllenhall and rapper, Fabolous who had a mid-show performance.

Hours prior to his first match as host, Jay Z signed super middleweight world champion Andre Ward to his Roc Nation Sports stable.

The boxer was excited to sign with the legendary rapper, taking to his Twitter account to announce the new deal. “It's official! Happy to be part of the Roc Nation family,” Andre Ward tweeted.

Jay Z's wife, Beyonce, was not present as her husband hosted his first boxing match between Hernandez-Harrison and Tommy Rainone.

Welterweight Hernandez-Harrison won the duel to protect his undefeated record.
