Noella Wiyaala Is Set To Promote Peace And Unity

After Afro – rock artiste, Noella Wiyaala parted ways with the Black N Peach band in April 2013, she has made great strides in her music career. Wiyaala, after having released hit songs like 'Make Me Dance' and 'Rock My Body,' is out with a new single called 'Africa'. The song was debuted live at “A Night of 1018 Laughs” to a wildly enthusiastic crowd in a performance described by critics as “immense”, “awesome” and “the Angelique Kidjo of our time”.

But following her knock – about antics in the hit songs, “Rock My Body” and “Go Go Black Stars”, Wiyaala turns her attention to more serious issues: “I was partly inspired to write 'Africa' by Sherifa Gunu, who helped me during some difficult times,” she revealed. According to Wiyaala, Africa is blessed with huge natural and human resources, yet we refuse to live in harmony? “I'm not just talking about wars and terrorism, I'm also talking about hatred and jealousy on a personal level where we fight each other as individuals, bear false witness and create enmity between people. 'Africa' is the first single to be released from the self – titled album 'Wiyaala' due out in November,” she said.

The song, on which the singer plays the acoustic guitar live, was produced and recorded by Jurgen Von Wechmar at Sunset Recording Studios in Stellenbosch, South Africa. A video for “Africa” is expected soon. Energetic Wiyaala has alongside industry big guns like Sarkodie, EL and Manifest made it to the list of nominees for the maiden all Africa Music Awards (Afrima). The event which will take place in Lagos Nigeria on Sunday, November 9, 2014 has won Wiyaala four nominations. They are: Best Female Artiste in West Africa with Rock My Body, Most Promising Artiste in Africa with Rock My Body, Best African Reggae, Raga and Dancehall with Rock My Body and Revelation of the African Continent with Rock My Body.

Sarkodie was also nominated for Best Male Artiste in West Africa with Adonai while EL and Manifest were both nominated in the Best African Hip-hop category with Ayayaa and Someway Bi respectively.
