MUSIGA presidency Appietus slams Obour again

Appietus has accused President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Obour of deliberately delaying the release of the list of delegates for the upcoming elections of the union.

Record producer, Appietus has accused President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice Osei Kufour (Obour) of deliberately delaying the release of the list of delegates for the upcoming elections of the union.

According to Appietus who is contesting Obour in the October 29 election, the list of delegates should have been released to all contenders to enable them strategize well in their various campaigns.

“My campaign is going on well just that the process is not fair; one should expect that. It is two weeks to the election and we are yet to get the list of delegates,” he said on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, Brunch2Lunch.

He told show host, Abrantepa that the delay is an attempt by incumbent Obour to gain undue advantage over the other aspirants. Appietus who was at the MUSIGA office in Accra at the time of the interview to pick the list stated that he has not been affected by the delay as he focused on campaigning to some delegates he knew across the country.

Meanwhile, Ahuma Bosco Ocansey, Director of Special Projects and Communications of MUSIGA has explained that per the roadmap, the list of delegates is supposed to be released after a meeting with all the aspirants on Monday, October 12, 2015. He advised aspirants not to create undue tension but follow the rules and seek clarification on any issue from the union.

About 150 delegates will converge at the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua on October 29, 2015 to elect executives who will steer the affairs of the union.

The candidates are Obour, the incumbent, Gyedu-Blay Ambulley and Appietus. Daasebre Dwamena who initially showed interest pulled out of the competition.

While Obour has said that he deserves a second term because his administration has been able to chalk a number of successes, Ambulley and Appietus claim he is not worthy of a re-election.
