Pappy Kojo Talks About 2015 Ghana Music Awards Nominations And Joint Album With Joey B

One of Ghana’s controversial rappers, Pappy Kojo, spoke to Pulse TV

The Ameyaw Debrah Media management act, Pappy Kojo made time with Pulse TV to discuss his music career, album release, 2015 Ghana Music Awards nominations and responds to accusations by his own home people. The rapper who hails from Takoradi made his major entrance into the Ghanaian music scene this year with one of Ghana's most popular songs of the year, "Realer No", which features another controversial award winning rapper, Joey B.

His immediate success into the music scene earned him respect and honour from music pundits, DJs, stakeholders of the music industry and most of all, the youth. The lyrical content in “Realer No” which is considered profane didn’t tie him down. Motivations and praises he received from Ghanaians moved him to rock numerous high stages this year with astonishing performances alongside Joey B. Pappy is not known for only music but stylish in terms of fashion.

Pulse TV grabbed him to talk about his success. According to the excited Pappy Kojo, he never expected the huge responds he had from “Realer No” because he nearly gave up on music until Joey B brought him back to the scene.

When asked about his future plans with Joey B, he said “I love working with Joey B…the chemistry is crazy…Whenever we are in the studio, it isn’t just about music…we have a lot of fun and we come out natural.

“ We spoke about working on a joint album. Me and Joey B are coming out with an album”

A couple of months ago, Pappy was accused his home people claiming he doesn’t sound real. In responds to those accusations from his ancestral home people, he laughed and said “I love Takoradi. The blood and everything in me is about Takoradi.

“I might look different and maybe that’s what they are saying or that’s why they are attaching me. My mum and my family are all living in Takoradi. I went to stay in Italy for a while and maybe that’s why they are accusing me but at the end of the day, I come from Takoradi. I love my people though”

He finally ended on his focus on 2015 Ghana Music Awards nominations. When he was asked if he deserves the “New Artiste of the Year” , he said “I don’t know. Am new here, so I don’t want to share my opinions and stuffs. I just want to do my music and keep my people (fans) going. All I care about is the people, getting them play my music and excited.

“With the awards, if I get them, cool but if not am alright”

Pappy is looking forward to do more studio work next year and having future collaboration with Sarkodie.
