Prince Philip, turns 94 today

Prince Philip married Queen Elizabeth at Westminster Abbey in a ceremony attended by royals from around the world, and watched by 200 million people on TV. The Duke's pet name for the Queen is "sausage"

 

Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip celebrates his 94th birthday today, Wednesday 10 June. The Queen's husband, a former naval officer and gentleman known for his mischievous sense of humour, is expected to celebrate the day surrounded by close family and Gun salutes will be fired by the King's Troop Royal Artillery to mark the day.

The Duke of Edinburgh is the longest serving consort in British history and also the oldest serving partner of a reigning monarch.

The Duke has eight grandchildren – Peter Phillips, Zara Phillips, Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Louise Windsor and Lord Severn.
