Kumawood beat Kumasi media on penalties in curtain raiser

Kumawood edged the Kumasi media 4-3 on penalties to carry the day on Sunday.

 

The Kumasi movie stars defeated the media in Kumasi 4-3 on penalties, following a scoreless draw within the 50 minutes of regulation time at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on Sunday in the curtain raiser of the game between the Celebrities and the Black Stars.

The first half of the game was a more balanced one as the two sides enjoyed equal possession of the game, but neither team managed to break the deadlock.

Back from recess, the Kumasi movie stars, piled pressure on the Kumasi media and created all the decent chances, but were wasteful upfront, hence failed to find the back of the net.

The centre referee in the final minute of the game ignored a penalty call from the Kumasi actors.

Kwaku Manu had a poor game in the first half, but was on top of the game after the break. Bright Kankam Boadu of Angel fm was the brightest spot of the media, however his long distance drives couldn’t beat the shot stopper for the Kumasi media.

Some of the notable Kumawood stars who played in the game were Salenko, Kwaku Manu, Big Akwes.

The media took the first spot kick of the shootout and scored and the movie stars leveled. Osafo Addo missed the second kick for the media, before the Stars went ahead 2-1 with their 2 kick.

The Kumasi media converted their 3 kick, but the movie actors scored to go ahead. The media scored to bring the shootout level, but the skipper for the media big Akwes restored their lead, before Sly of Ash fm’s penalty was saved by the goalkeeper of Kumawood to enable them win 4-3 on penalties.
