Menaye Donkor wins right to organise Miss Universe Pageant in Ghana

Donkor, a former Miss Universe herself was also appointed as the pageant’s Director to oversee the section of Ghana’s representative at the international front.  The C.E.O of the beauty brand, SHE by Menaye, shared the exciting news on her Instagram page amidst congratulatory messages from Ghanaians, friends and loved ones.

According to Mrs Muntari her experience as a former title holder gives her the opportunity to make Ghana proud and shape the pageant

“As a former titleholder, the Miss Universe experience taught me a great deal and has shaped me to be the woman I am today. I am very passionate about building and maintaining the reputation of the Miss Universe Ghana pageant in my role as National Director.” She explained.

The Miss Universe brand over the years has faced a lot of controversies from court cases to accusations of sex from organisers, bribery and changes in the representatives at the final stages. Menaye Donkor Muntari’s appointment thus offers the brand a chance to redeem its image.

I am also extremely motivated to offer the same opportunities that I was given to other young Ghanaian women,” adds Menaye.

Menaye Donkor Muntari first got in the limelight when she won the 2004 edition of the Miss Universe Pageant and went on to represent Ghana in Ecuador. Despite not winning the crown, she was adjudged as one of the 5 top beautiful faces in the competition. Menaye Donkor is married to Black stars player, Sulley Ali Muntari with whom he has a son.

Miss Universe International is one of the world’s most popular pageants rivalling the likes of Miss World and Miss Earth. The pageant is a platform for unearthing talents and winners have gone to become top models in the world.

The Miss Universe Ghana Organization will host a press launch on 1st June 2017 at Carbon, hosted by Ghanaian TV/Radio personality, Kofi Okyere Darko to announce details for the upcoming Miss Universe Ghana competition that will occur in September.  The event will bring media, sponsors and dignitaries together to celebrate the pageant which Ghana has participated in since 1991.
