“My victory over Melcom is a victory for the music industry” - rapper

Tic Tac sued Melcom Ghana for using his image for four years as a brand ambassador when the contract stated that he was to serve as the brand ambassador for two years.

According to the music legend, this was a win for the Ghanaian music industry.

“It is very important that something of this nature has happened. Looking at Melcom as a multinational supermarket with a very large share in the market, I think it’s a major victory not just for me but for the creative arts industry and it is also an example for us to follow as creative art players” he said.

He emboldened fellow artistes to make significant decisions in their careers by not thinking about how big an organization is it was tantamount that one pursue what was theirs.

Born Nana Kwaku Okyere Duah, Tic Tac sued Melcom Ghana for using his image for four years as a brand ambassador when the contract stated that he was to serve as the brand ambassador for two years.

The court recently ruled in his favour after a year in court. The estimated amount for damages claimed by Tic Tac is unknown, however, Ghanaian media houses claim it is close to GHC 300,000.
