Sika says she felt she needed to shed more light on this sensitive subject. “I definitely knew that this was a film I wanted to make because it strongly moved me to know that so many people go through such traumatic experiences not just by strangers but people they know and trust which ends up being covered up by family or themselves as a way of saving face and covering their shame and never dealing with the negative emotional and psychological effects that it may have on them,” she said.
