Actress says she was surprised Oscars snubbed ‘Beasts of No Nation'

“The Oscars has been happening for 88 years; and in the 88 years, they’ve given 14 Oscars to black people,” says Ama K. Abebrese.

In an interview with Jeremie on "Touchdown" on Live FM, actressAma K. Abebrese, who played the role of of the mother of lead character Agu in the movie, shared her thoughts on the snub.

“In a way, I was a bit surprised because I thought if any movie deserves to be nominated…performances left right and center. I thought Idris (Elba) would get a nomination, and I thought Abraham Attah would get a nomination,” she said.

“The Oscars has been happening for 88 years; and in the 88 years, they’ve given 14 Oscars to black people,” she concluded.
