Agya Koo

Several years after movie producers in Kumasi blacklisted actor Agya Koo from featuring in their movies, citing reasons for his gross arrogance and exorbitant charges, movie director, Frank Garbin has admitted that he has missed working with the actor.

The award winning movie director speaking on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, indicated that Agya Koo’s experience and ideas, to a large extent contributed to the success of movies he had shot with the actor.

He told show host Abrantepa that sales of the movies he shot with Agya Koo were quite good at the time the actor was at his peak.

“Of course, I miss him a lot. If I have shot like 100 films, I might have shot 70% with him. To be very honest, when Agya Koo was at his peak, market was quite good in terms of sales. Agya Koo also has certain ideas and qualities he brings on set which contributes to the totality of the film. He has this experience and is mature in acting and comedy. He doesn’t do this kind of raw comedy; he does mature acting,” he said.

Adding: “I wouldn’t want to see Agya Koo sink. I wish he bounces back so we work as we used to. No one wishes anybody’s downfall. But again, as an actor, your talent will take you there but your attitude and character will bring you down so he just has to work on his attitude and a few things. He should organise a stakeholders’ press conference and apologise to all those he offended and let’s move on.”

Asked if he had an issue with the actor, Garbin who directed the moviesaid although Agya Koo did not finish shooting his scenes in the movie as he drove off, he holds no grudges against the actor.

“I don’t have any problem with Agya Koo. I’m always ready to work with him but I know there are some people who are aggrieved following what he exhibited towards them,” he said.
