UTV's "La Gata" and "What Life Took From Me" are Ghana's most searched TV series

People search to find out more, to know more our heroes, explore far-away destinations, or settle a dinner table dispute between friends. And occasionally we just search to find out if eating ‘waakye’ is a good dieting option.

Zeitgeist — German for “spirit of the times” — is Google’s yearly look at the billions of searches performed throughout the year. Google’s Year-End Zeitgeist uses data from multiple sources while filtering out spam and repeat queries, to build fascinating top-ten lists across pop culture, sports, music, politics, news, and more.

This year, we reflect on the people, places, moments and topics that sent Ghanaians searching for answers.

And it seems UTV may have topped the list. According to the Google Trends for 2015, here are the most searched TV Series by Ghanaians for the year.

1. La Gata : The Stray Cat is a Mexican telenovela produced by Nathalie Lartilleux for Televisa.

It is a remake of the Venezuelan telenovela La Gata, produced in 1968 and Mexican telenovela Rosa Salvaje produced in 1987.

2. What Life took from me : (English title: ) is a Mexican telenovela produced by Angelli Nesma Medina for Televisa. It is a remake of Bodas de odio, produced by Ernesto Alonso in 1983.

In 2003, Amor Real, the first remake, was produced by Carla Estrada. Unlike Bodas de odio and Amor Real, Lo que la vida me robó has been adapted to the present time

3. Empire : The second season of the American television drama series Empire premiered on September 23, 2015, in the United States on Fox.

The season was ordered on January 17, 2015

4. The Flash : is an American television series developed by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns, airing on The CW.

It is based on the DC Comics character Barry Allen / Flash, a costumed superhero crime-fighter with the power to move at superhuman speeds.

5. Unforgivable : Martín San Telmo comes to a small, remote town called Mina Escondida where his wanted half brother, Demetrio, lives and works in a gold mine; upon arrival, Martín discovers that Demetrio has committed suicide after being betrayed by a heartless and ambitious woman who only played with his emotions.

6. Avenida Brasil : Avenida Brasil is a Brazilian primetime telenovela created by João Emanuel Carneiro.

It premiered on March 26, 2012 and ended on October 19, 2012 on Rede Globo at 9 pm timeslot.

7. Windeck : Windeck is an Angolan telenovela.

It was nominated for Best Telenovela at the 2013 International Emmys.

8. Game of Thrones Season 5 : It's the depiction of two powerful families -- kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars and honest men -- playing a deadly game for control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, and to sit atop the Iron Throne.

9. Quantico : This drama from executive producers Josh Safran and Mark Gordon explores the lives of young FBI recruits who have come to the Quantico base in Virginia for 21 weeks of training to become special agents.

10. Shadows of the past : Shadows of the Past is about Steve Kelly, a retired rodeo champion, who accepts a rematch with notorious bucking bull, 'Black Friday', the same bull that ended his career several years ago
