‘If You Were Mine’, which was nominated for Best picture, Best Wardrobe and Costume, and Best Music Original Score at the 2014 Ghana Movie Awards, pulled hundreds of patrons to the premiere. Pulse.com.gh was there to capture the moment, as well to review the movie

The Story:

‘If You Were Mine’ is a movie filled with romance, comedy and some suspense. Max (Majid Michel), a simple everyday-man had his life turned around when he went to the club one night and met a mysterious lady called Ashanti (Rukky Sanda). They started talking and getting along and before he knew it, the mysterious lady was in his room and on his bed and they were having fun, laughing and sharing a glass of champagne but he doses off only to wake up in the morning to find her gone.

They however met again and Max fell deeply in love with the lady to the extent that he could hardly concentrate on anything. Things moved so fast he proposed to the girl within a very short period of time. Things however took a dramatic turn when Harry (Kweku Elliot) an ex-lover of Ashanti who went to jail so she can have a free life appeared in her life just two weeks to her wedding to Max, making things unbearable for her.

Trying to hide the appearance of an ex-lover from her soon-to-be husband, Ashanti was forced to help him land a deal thinking that will get rid of him but Harry had plans of his own. He came to her house one night and blackmailed her to go out on a dinner date with him but just when they were about to leave, Max also came in to take her out but he had to reschedule as Ashanti told him she was going on a business meeting with her client who was Harry.

On the day of the wedding, as the groom was getting ready, the bride was nowhere to be found. Her friends looked for her everywhere but they could not find her. Being convinced Ashanti had run away with her ex, her friends called the Harry to inform him that his bride had run away with her ex-lover but before he could ask for answers, Harry came in and revealed he had kidnapped Ashanti.

Max was then awakened only to realize that finding the mysterious lady was a dram within a dream.

Our Verdict:

The movie was indeed a great source of entertainment for the audience although the ending was a bit to0 flat. Pascal Amanfo did a cool good job with his directing skills. Some of the characters were a bit over-exaggerated but the actors altogether did a decent job. The story could have evolved much better and the ending could have been better- more worthy of viewer's time.
