Photos Prince Dovlo holds press screening of "Purple" movie

Speaking at the screening, Dovlo said “Purple” concept started two years ago.

Award-winning director, Prince Dovlo has held a press screening of his debut movie titled “Purple”. The screening took place at the Casarere Hotel at East Legon on September 5, 2016.

The screening saw "Purple" writer Edmund Robertson, sound producer Arnold Teiku Baah and cast from the movie including Psalm Adjetefio and Deborah Vennesa in attendance.

Speaking at the screening, Dovlo said “Purple” concept started two years ago.

“’Purple’ is a musical film. About two years ago, we wanted to shoot something different—something that people would fall in love with. So we came up with this concept where we would involve more youth than to shoot a romantic movie,” he said.

He added “About the time frame, we had to record every single song in the film and remake the beats. Also, we had to fuse most of the Ghanaian artistes we have. It’s been good so far.”

Psalm Adjetefio who played the role of a father in “Purple” musical, shared his role.

“It’s every parent’s dream to secure the future of his/her daughter before he/she can rest.  But here, I planned that my daughter could go to the university to read law but before I realised, she was ‘singing some things’.

"I got mad at first, but later on I tried to understand her. Maybe she would read law but she’s got another talent,” he said.

“Purple” stars young actors and top Ghanaian musicians including Stonebwoy, Samini, Wanlov, Akwaboah, Pappy Kojo and Efya.

The movie will be premiered on September 24, 2016, at the Silver Bird cinemas, Accra Mall and West Hills Mall, Weija.
