5 most anticipated Nollywood movies of 2016, release dates

We are half way through the year 2016, and if you are yet to have that 'movie experience,' then mark your calendars and save the date for these five Nollywood movies.

A Trip to Jamaica

We have had "Beyond Blood," "Suru L'ere," "Diary of a Lagos Girl," "Couple of Days," "North East," "8 Bars and a Clef," among others entertain movie lovers this year.

1. "93 Days"

"93 Days" is a movie centred on the true-life story of men and women who risked their lives and made sacrifices to save Nigerians from the consequences of the outbreak of the highly dreaded Ebola virus disease.

A compelling human story of dedication, sacrifice, resilience and survival, The movie is directed by Steve Gukas, and produced  by Bolanle Austen-Peters, Dotun Olakunri and Steve Gukas.

Starring undefinedthe movie also stars Bimbo Akintola as Nigerian hero, Dr Stella AdadevohGideon Okeke, Somkhele Idhalama, Bimbo Manuel and veteran Hollywood actor, Danny Glover.

The movie premieres September 16, 2016.

2. "A Trip to Jamaica"

The upcoming comedy film is a sequel to the box office record breaking movie "30 Days in Atlanta," which was released in 2014.

Produced by AY Makun,  "A Trip to Jamaica" chronicles more adventures of Akpors, a character created from the AYShow’s 'Who Wants To Be A Billionaire' hilarious skits.

The comedy film stars  Hollywood acts Eric Roberts andDan Davies, Jamaica acts Paul Campbell and Rebecca Silvera, Ghanaian actor Chris Attoh and Nigerian actors that include Makun, Funke Akindele, Nse Ikpe Etim, Patoranking, Cynthia Morgan and Ras Kimono.

"A Trip to Jamaica" premieres on September 30, 2016.

3. "The CEO"

Set mainly on a beautiful beach resort on the outskirts of Lagos in Nigeria, “The CEO” is a mystery-thriller surrounding five top executives from across Africa who are despatched on a 1-week leadership retreat by a multinational telecommunications firm, to determine which one to appoint as the firm’s new CEO. Things go awry when one-by-one the executives are eliminated in sudden death circumstances, and the finger falls on the last two remaining executive as prime suspects.

"The CEO" features Wale Ojo, Lala Akindoju, Angelique Kidjo, Aurelie EliamHilda Dokubo, Jimmy Jean Louis, Peter King, Nico Panagio among others.

"The CEO" premieres on Friday, July 15, 2016.

4. "The Arbitration"

Starring Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award winners OC Ukeje and Adesua Etomi, the movie also stars Ireti Doyle, Sola Fosudo, Beverly Naya, Somkele Idhalama, Gregory Ojefua among others.

"The Arbitration" tells the story of Gbenga (O.C Ukeje) and his employee Dara (Adesua Etomi) who had an affair. After the affair ended and Dara left the company, she sued Gbenga and accused him of rape. An arbitration panel was constituted to find out the truth.

"The Arbitration" premieres on August 12, 2016.

5. "76"

The anticipated movie stars talented actors like Ramsey Nouah, Rita Dominic, Ibinabo Fiberesima, Chidi Mokeme, Memry Savanhu, Adonijah Owuruwa, Daniel K. Daniel, Nelly Ekwereogu and Shuaibu Ebenehi Adams.

Synopsis:Six years after the civil war, a young officer from the middle belt gets entangled in a romantic relationship with a beautiful O-Level student from the Southeastern part of Nigeria.

Their budding romance was almost ruptured by endless military postings. Now heavily pregnant her walls came crumbling when the news of her husband's involvement in a botched coup attempt hits the headlines.

"76" debuts on November 26, 2016.
