Minions still rules U.K. Box Office Chart in it's third week

The Despicable Me spin-off, featuring the voices of Jon Hamm and Sandra Bullock, set the second-highest opening weekend takings for an animated film in U.S. history when it was released there last week.

Hit children's movie Minionshas continued its runaway success by topping the U.K. Box Office Chart for the third week in a row.

The Despicable Me spin-off, featuring the voices of Jon Hamm and Sandra Bullock, set the second-highest opening weekend takings for an animated film in U.S. history when it was released there last week.

The movie was already a huge success in the U.K. and it continued its stellar run by fighting off competition from newly-released comedy sequel Ted 2 over the weekend.

Minions took $6.5 million (£4.1 million) over the three-day period, leaving Ted 2 trailing in second place with $6 million (£3.8 million) and dinosaur blockbuster Jurassic World in third with $2.9 million (£1.8 million).

The top five was rounded out by Terminator Genisys ($2.5 million/£1.6 million) and Magic Mike XXL ($1.5 million/£955,000).
