New streaming service has 11 million users

Apple Music launched at the end of June along with its 24/7 online radio station Beats 1.

 

Apple have announced the user figures for its new music streaming service, Apple Music, the figures show that 11 million people have signed up for its free trial since its launch.

Now, speaking to USA Today, the company's executive Eddy Cue has revealed the figure. He said: "We’re thrilled with the numbers so far."

As The Guardian reports, Apple's main rival Spotify currently has 75 million active users, with 20 million using its premium service.

Other competitors include Deezer (16 million active users and six million subscribers), Rhapsody/Napster (three million subscribers) and Tidal (770,000 subscribers).It is also worth noting that 800 million users hold an iTunes account. Apple Music's three-month free trial ends on September 30, when users will be asked to convert to a paying account.
