Current gospel songs do not glorify God – Prophet Seth Frimpong

According to Prophet Seth Frimpong, most gospel musicians have neglected the true essence of gospel music for trappings of show business.

Gospel musician, Prophet Seth Frimpong has indicated that some of his colleagues have digressed from the core task of singing to exalt God and saving perishing souls.

He made the comments in an interview with Abrantepa on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, Brunch2Lunch.

“Most gospel musicians have deviated from the norm. They have digressed from preaching the Word and changing lives to entertaining listeners. Frankly speaking, the least said about it, the better,” he said.

According to him, most gospel musicians have neglected the true essence of gospel music for trappings of show business.

The “Mehuri so” singer also took a swipe at radio presenters and disc jockeys for promoting such songs instead of those that glorify God.

“Radio presenters should promote good songs by giving them rotation. Currently, before a song becomes a hit, it has to be inspirational. Songs that glorify God and save perishing souls are not given the support. Radio presenters are not helping at all. And when an artiste suggest that to them, they victimise him by denying him airplay. The gospel music industry is collapsing. If you don’t have money to push your song, you will not make a hit even when your song is good,” he observed.

Explaining his long absence from the music scene, Prophet Seth Frimpong stated that he always waits upon God before coming out with a song. According to him, he does not do songs for material gains; he releases as God directs.
