Kojo Antwi Promises To Be Firm And Effective

Newly elected Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO), Kojo Antwi, has promised to live up to expectation.

According to Kojo Antwi, “my team will be firm, decisive and truthful and work hard in the interest of all music right owners.  In order to avoid the mistakes of the past, we will engage technical experts to run the society with our supervision”.

He made this statement at the inauguration of the GHAMRO new executives at the Alisa Hotel in Accra yesterday.

Kojo Antwi noted that musicians have suffered for a long time simply because there was no collective society to pursue their interests but with the introduction of the collective society, his team would see to it that every right owner gets paid for their work.

He said he is not going to embezzle funds at GHAMRO as the newly elected chairman.

Stating some of his plans for GHAMRO, Kojo Antwi said his team was working closely with Betty Mould-Iddrisu, former Attorney General, to make sure musicians in Ghana got what is due them.

“I believe in action than too much talk that is why I never spoke for or against GHAMRO when it had its issues in the media. Once the people have hope in me and have made me the new chairman, I promise to not let them down but do what is necessary in the interest of musicians”, he said.

He said he was thankful for the Copyright Act and the Copyright Legislative Instrument which provides GHAMRO with the right legal protection and mandate to collect and distribute royalties for works used.

Highlife musician and member of GHAMRO,  Nana Kwame Ampadu commended Kojo Antwi for taking this huge task and asked all musicians to rally behind him for their collective good.

According to him, he trusted  Kojo Antwi and believed he could do the job if he was supported by his team.
