People must receive healing after hearing our songs" - Philipa Baafi

"I want to tell my colleagues that there is the need for us to remain united and love ourselves as the Bible says".

Philipa Baafi

Gospel music diva, Philipa Baafi has bemoaned the pompous attitude of some of her fellow gospel musicians, describing it as needless.

According to her, it is a shame that some of her colleagues are not emulating the humility that Christ exhibited, and further called for a stronger bond of unity among this category of musicians.

There have been several disturbing reports of instances where certain gospel musicians have shown excessive sense of self- importance much to the surprise of witnesses.

There was an incident where a gospel musician who had been billed to perform at a show boycotted her performance because her colleague had been made to perform ahead of her.

Speaking on TV 3’s Music Music show, the ‘Go High’ singer condemned this attitude insisting it makes mockery of the task they have taken upon themselves to preach the gospel of Christ through music.

“I want to tell my colleagues that there is the need for us to remain united and love ourselves as the Bible says. We must not boast about our material achievements, but instead people must give testimony to the glorification of God that they listened to our songs and the songs turned their lives around. People must receive healing, encouragement and faith in God et cetera after hearing our songs.

We should bear in mind that as gospel musicians we have been called to complete the work of Christ but not to compete among ourselves. We should make God proud with all our activities”.
