In the face of fierce competition from heavyweights in the industry, Ghana’s reigning Hiplife/Hip pop act, Kwaw Kesse, has bragged his way to success insisting “I am the best thing to have happened to Ghanaian music. “

In an exclusive interview with Infoboxdaily, ahead of his much publicised new music video, Yakubu, to be premiered on Saturday night the Man Insane said: “I don’t see any artiste in Ghana posing a threat to my career. My style is different. What I do is different from all what they do.”

In response to reports that self-acclaimed Dancehall King, Shatta Wale, is taking over his King of the Streets title, Kwaw Kesse said: “I will say Kudos to all the dance hall artistes. “They are doing their thing. To me, I think I am the best thing to happen to Ghanaian music. When people are boasting of their fame in Accra, I am all over. Go to Kumasi and I am all over there. Come to Accra, go to the Western Region, Eastern Region, everywhere in Ghana, I pull the biggest fans. “

“I don’t want to see myself competing with anybody. I want to do my thing and doing it best. Anybody else doing their thing is trying, but Kwaw Kesse is the biggest thing to happen to Ghana music. If you want, check it out, check it in the prisons.” he joked.

Also known as Abodam, Kesse spent two weeks in prison cells for smoking Indian hemp in public.

On the launch of his new music video, Yakubu, Kwaw Kesse said the video marks a new beginning in his musical career.

“Everybody knows what happened to me last November 2014. I decided to turn the tragic incident into something great. I will say I went deep into myself and came back as a new guy with new swag, new music. This new music is trending worldwide. I think it is a new stage in my career. I want to celebrate it with you and you and you “, he said.

On what inspired the video premiere, Kwaw Kesse said: “Within an hour that the song came out, it was trending worldwide. On twitter, it was everywhere. So the song is really big. Even before the song came out, performing the song on stage, people were like really into it, they called me Yakubu.”

“We want the world to witness it in grand style. …It’s been a while and people have been waiting for it. But finally, we are ready to drop it.

Experience the biggest thing to hit Ghana, “Yakubu,” he added.

Ten years in the industry, the Abodam singer sees a bright future ahead of him; The future is now. And it’s so bright and beautiful. “

Born Emmanuel Botchwey, Kwaw Kesse is arguably the biggest Hiplife/Hiphop artistes in Ghana. His biggest album, ‘Abodam’, released in 2007 earned him five awards at the 2008 Ghana Music Awards, including Artiste of the Year. He released a number of albums, thereafter and featured on other songs.
