Recounting his first encounter with Sarkodie on Pulse TV, the “African Thriller” singer said the rapper was in Los Angeles for the 2014 BET Awards so he run to him to speak about a collabo but never reached him. Instead, he met Samini and asked him to collaborate on a track titled “Black Stars”.
“Whiles I was in Los Angeles during the (2014) BET Awards, Sarkodie and Samini came for the event so I went out to meet Sarkodie for collaboration. But funny enough when I got there, I met Samini instead so I asked him to go to the studio to record the track (Black Star),” he said.
Rocky Dawuni became the first Ghanaian act to be nominated for Grammys last week and Samini is the only artiste featured on the Grammys nominated album “Trees Of The Same Branch”.
