Afrobeat musician happy that Beyonce did not release Fela inspired album

In a recent Facebook post made on March 26, 2015, the musician expressed his happiness that the Beyonce Afrobeat album never got released.

According to producer The Dream, Beyonce recorded approximately 20 songs influenced by the sound of the late creator of the Afrobeat genre. "We did a whole different sounding thing, about twenty songs. She said she wanted to do something that sounds like Fela" said the producer.

While some might be happy that the world's biggest pop act composed and recorded songs based on the musical style of the enigmatic Fela Kuti, some others aren't too pleased. One of such people is Afrobeat act, and son of Fela, Seun Kuti.

In a recent Facebook post made on March 26, 2015, the musician expressed his happiness that the Beyonce Afrobeat album never got released. "Thanks to the ancestors that didn't happen" he wrote in a Facebook shared post of the Beyonce story.

A couple of years ago Beyonce came out to say she was strongly inspired by Fela. Her husband Jay Z and Will Smith executive produced the award winning Broadway play based on the life and times of the political activist and musician.
